Chapter 34

I stared at her with a look of puzzlement on my face. What on earth was she talking about?

''What?'' I said, looking anxiously at her phone screen.

''Do you have Rama Al X on BBM?'' Bdour asked urgently.

''No, why?'' I said, panic rising in my voice at the reminder of her name.

I did not like where this conversation was heading.

''Look at her picture.''

-

*Yousef's point of view.

I aimlessly walked through the halls with Faris and Sultan, not having any intentions of going to arabic class.  This week I really got to know Sultan, and the person who I thought of as creepy was actually pretty cool. There were only two more hours until school was over, so we all were headed to the roof.

''Yousef!'' I heard a familiar voice call out from behind me.

Rama.

''This girl will not leave me alone!'' I thought to myself. I sighed, turning around.

''What, Rama?'' I said, a thick edge of annoyance in my voice.

''Can I talk to you?''  She said, batting her eyelashes thick with dark clumps of mascara, or whatever the hell you call it. I examined her face, looking for any signs that she might just be joking. She was wearing tons of makeup, chunks of foundation smeared accross her face. I always hated girls who wore too much makeup. I was glad that Sara didn't do that, I thought she was beautiful just the way she was.

''Will you leave me alone then?'' I said, nodding to the guys to go on with out me.

She nodded, and watched them walk away, leaving us alone in the hallway.

''Look, i need you to do something.'' She said, a serious tone in her voice.

''And why would I help you?'' I chuckled. That girl was unbeleiveable.

''Because you wouldn't want anyone to find out about our little secret, would you?''

''You wouldn't.'' I said, trying to hide the surprise in my voice.

''I still have the picture right here.'' She said, pulling out her blackberry, scrolling through it for a few seconds, then showing me the picture on the screen.

It was a picture of me and her from last year, just a bit before Sara became friends with her. My arm was around her neck, and her lips were pressed against my cheek.  I was grinning at the camera, my smile bigger then ever.

It was taken while me and Rama were dating.

Chapter 33

HELLO EVERYONE!

Enjoy this wonderful (i hope) marathon of chapters! I wish i had more to say but I don't.

Enjoy! (I already said that but whatever.)
-

I awoke to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, and the sun directly above, glistening on the water. I sat up, taking in my surroundings. I looked at the sleeping Yousef next to me, and then I remembered what happened. Imagine if someone saw us here? They would jump to horrible conclusions. Fear surged through me and I looked around. We were far away from the shaleih, too far for anyone to see us, and there weren't any other shaleihs within a mile of here.

''Yousef, wake up.'' I said quietly, running my hands through my hair, trying to get the sand out.

I saw him move around, awkwardly glancing around just as I had.

''Hey.'' He said sleepily.

I suddenly remembered the lunch that our parents were having.

''What time is it?!'' I asked, panicking.

''One. Oh my gosh.'' Yousef said, realizing why I asked him.

''There going to be here in 15 minutes.'' I shreiked, grabbing my flats and jumping up.

''Were dead.'' Yousef said, slipping on his red Toms and getting up.

I picked up all of the cigarettes, throwing them in the bushes, then we both ran back to the shalieh.

When we got there, we saw everyone sitting inside, and they all stared at us as soon as we walked in.

''It's about time you got back.'' Turki smirked, and everyone burst out laughing.

''You know, they're going to be here in like 10 minutes, you should go get ready.''  Amal said, glancing at the sand in my hair and fighting a smile.

I blushed, awkwardly running upstairs to the room. I thought I saw Lulu give me a cold look, but i just ignored it. took a quick shower, drying my hair and leaving it down. I quickly slipped on a casual white dress, and putting on gold flats. I left my hair down, happy that I had gotten all of the sand out. I skipped out the door.

I went downstairs, and soon everyone started arriving. Soon we were all eating lunch, and all of the parents were chatting.  After we were all done, the adults stayed in the living room, and the rest of us decided to go to the beach. I went upstairs,  putting on my bathing suite and shorts and a pink Juicy Coutore shit and pink flipflops.

We all got out the jetskis and pulled them into the water. We all jumped around running through the water. By the time we went back, it was already 6.

We all sat down on the beach, exhausted. We all watched the sun set, and everyone was at peace.

It was a great day.

-

The week went by quickly, and it was sunday before I knew it.

I was sitting in class next to fay, reading a book. Our next class was canceled for god knows what, which meant we had to stay in this class for two whole hours.

The air conditioner was broken, and the heat was suffocating me. I desperately looked at the clock on the wall, surprised that it had only been 15 minutes since the class started. Fay was studying, as usual, and she looked as tired and as sweaty as the rest of us.

The substitute had already fallen asleep, and just looking at him made me feel drowsey. I half considered taking a little nap, but I knew I would never be able to sleep with all of the noise around me. Anything was better then sitting in a room for the next two hours with 24 sweaty teenagers.

I shifted my eyes from the clock to the door, seeing Hessa walk in silently, giving a look to the sleeping teacher. Bdour is really beautiful, she has light olive skin and a curvy figure, and she's really sweet. her long light brown - almost blonde - hair floated behind her, her wide green eyes full of worry scanning the room, landing right on me.

She quickly walked over to me, taking the empty seat next to mine and leaning close, pulling her blackberry out.

''Sara, have you seen this?!''

I stared at the picture for a while, not sure what I was supposed to say.

We had only dated for a month, before I saw what kind of girl she was. I've never been the type of guy to like girls who act like that. I think it's disgusting. I never told Sara that we were dating, even though  it was the only thing I've ever hid from her in my entire life.

''What do you want?''  I said, tearing my eyes away from the screen.

''Simple. Break up with Sara.'' She smirked, twirling her overly-dyed hair around her finger.

''And why would I do that? She already knows we dated, I even showed her the picture.'' I lied, giving her a cold stare.

''okay.'' She said, walking away.

Okay? What the hell does that mean?

''girls.'' Thought to myself with a sigh, then turned and walked down the hall, heading to the roof.

-

*Sara's point of view.

''Look.'' She said, shoving the phone into my hands.

I was just about to open bbm on her phone when suddenly the phone was grabbed out of my hands.

I looked up, seeing the arabic teacher giving me a stern look.

''You will get this at the end of the day.'' He said in a thick Egyptian accent.

Hessa gave me an apologetic look.

''I'll show you at the end of class.'' She whispered.

Those two hours of class were pure torture, the wasted time giving my mind a perfect opportunity to over think and panic.

Finally, the ear piercing scream of the bell rang, and we all hurried out the classroom. I said bye to Fay, who hadn't noticed anything that happened. Me and Hessa rushed out the door, hastily grabbing her phone off of the desk. She opened bbm, then giving me the phone.

I squinted at the picture, thinking my eyes were tricking me.

But they weren't.

We both climbed into Yousef's Jeep, and I was still hoping that my father would even come tomorrow.

''Hey, Sara.'' He grinned, staring at me.

''Hey.'' I laughed.

''You know I exist, right?'' Amal said, annoyance in her tone.

''Wow Amal oh my gosh hi hello good afternoon how are you. You're looking very nice today how was school!'' Yousef said quickly, mocking Amal.

I laughed, and we drove off to 360, and went to B+F,  where we were greeted by 10 other people, all jumping up and down and waving. My eyes locked on Hussain's for a second, and I don't think I've ever seen him happier.

We all rushed inside, people's jaws dropping at the 13 of us, all giggling and talking. We all sat down at the biggest table, Amal next to Jassim, Ghalia next to Shoug, Shoug next to Faris, Omar next to Sultan, Sultan next to Ali, Ali next to Lulu, Lulu next to Yousef, and I was in between Yousef and Hussain. I couldn't help but think that there was supposed to be another chair, squished right next to Shoug and Ghalia. But I quickly shook the feeling off, reminding myself why she wasn't here.

We took at least 200 pictures, ate, and laughed about everything. Everyone congratulated me and Hussain, and I couldn't be happier.

*

We all left 360 and were now all crammed in the black Tahoe. 99.7 was blasting, and my driver had an annoyed look on his face. Part Of Me by Katy Perry came on, and all of the girls in the car instantly started screaming the lyrics out. We were all headed to my Shalieh for the week, and I couldn't wait. Hussain, Sultan, and Hashim were fitting in wonderfully, and they were all talking to Omar and Faris about football.

when we arrived to the shaleih, We all rushed out of the car, running to take our bags and rush inside. My shaleih is modern-looking, right in front of the sea with big trees surrounding it. I went inside, smelling the familiar scent of the sea. There were 3 wings in the house: one for the boys, one for the girls, and another for my parents. I went to the largest bedroom in the girl's wing, where there were 5 large matresses on the floor. I set my bag down, slipped off my shoes, and went back downstairs, finding everyone sitting in the living room, deciding on what to do.

We were the only ones in the house, besides the driver and two maids. All of our parents were coming tomorrow for a huge lunch, but for now it was just us. We all decided on watching all of the Harry Potter movies, and settled on the couches with popcorn.

It was about half way through the second movie, I felt Yousef nudge me on the shoulder.

''Come on.''  he whispered, getting up.  I silently followed him, wondering what this was all about. It was already 1, where could he be going?

I followed him out the house, and we were both walking down the beach, holding hands. We had been walking for about 5 minutes, when suddenly he stopped. I could hear the waves crashing on the shore, and I could feel the cool breeze of the wind brushing against my cheeks.

''Sara?'' He said quietly, looking at me with a big grin on his face.

''What?'' I laughed, my cheeks reddening in embarrassment.

''I love you.'' He laughed, sitting down.

We sat there talking about everything. From school to friends to jokes, and then more serious things like our mothers.  We told each other all of our worries and fears and happieness and everything that was on our minds. By the time we were done, it was already 4am.

I saw him reach into his pocket, getting out a pack of cigarettes. He took one out, placing it on his lips and lighting it up.

''I tought you said you quit!'' I screeched, taking the cigarette from his lips.

''No, I said I would try to quit.'' He said, smirking at me and taking it back.

''How would you feel if I started smoking again?'' I chalanged, taking it back.

''Sara, that's different.'' He sighed, turning to face me.

''How?''

''I wouldn't let you anyway. And besides, you're not like that anymore. You wouldn't do it.'' He chuckled, taking a long drag. He blew out, and I could see the faint outline of smoke dancing in the air.

''Lets see about that.'' I said, snatching it back.

I had been dying for one. It was like a breath of fresh air, ironically. I loved the lightness of it, how I felt so much better about everything after one. It's so weird how something so horrible for you can feel so amazing. It hurts you, but at the same time makes you feel better. Like burning and treating a wound at the same time.

I put it to my lips, inhaling. I instantly felt a surge in my brain, and my shoulders relaxed as I blew out the smoke.

''Sara, don't.'' Yousef whined.

I laughed at his tone, and gave him a look. He's not exactly the best person to decide if I should smoke or not.

''When you quit, I quit. Deal?'' I laughed, watching him take out another cigarette and lighting it.

''Deal.'' He agreed, and we pinky promised, just like we used to do when we were kids.

We kept talking, and even stayed on the beach to watch the sunrise. we both layed down, watching the sky turn red. I closed my eyes, and soon I was fast asleep.

Chapter 31

Hello everyone! WELCOME BACK! So this is the start of the marathon, and I will be posting all of the chapters until the story finishes today!

Enjoy!

I quickly turned around, my heart pounding in my chest.

Rama.

''Sara!'' She shrieked, causing chills to run down my spine.

Just then, the bell rang, indicating the end of the school day.

''You are going to regret the day you ever decided to mess with me, Sara. Trust me.'' She said with a cruel look on her face.

She turned and walked away, her hands still clenched in angry fists. I noticed that I was shaking, and Hashim took my bag and was slowly guiding me downstairs.

What else was she going to do to me?

*

When we arrived home, I was still lightheaded. Amal and Yousef, along with the rest of the school, knew about the fight, and kept giving me weird glances. I was pretty sure Fahad didn't know, because he didn't say anything and was acting normal. I went up to my room, changing into sweatpants, considering staying in my room for the rest of the day - or possibly for the rest of my life. I shook off the idea when Maria called me for lunch.

We all sat down to eat lunch, and Aziz was even home to join us.

Everything seemed normal.

 Too normal.

I looked at Amal who was talking about math with Yousef, trying to act as if nothing was wrong, and failing horribly. Yousef had a stern look on his face, like he had a lot on his mind. I forced myself to indulge my mind into a long conversation with Aziz about work, and easily regurgitated a fake story about my day, the lies slipping off my tong.

We all finished, and I was about to rush up to my room. but Yousef gave me a cold look, as if he read my mind, and I stayed seated.

Me, Amal, and Yousef sat in the big living room, and Aziz and Fahad were going out.

''What happened?!'' Amal shrieked as soon as she heard the door close shut, breaking the silence.

I sighed, telling them what happened.

''You slapped her!?'' Amal said, a look of horror on her face.

''I was mad!'' I said defensively.

She ignored my reply, turning to Yousef, who still hadn't said a word yet. He had been silent the whole time.

''Just ignore her, Sara. She'll eventually leave you alone.'' Yousef finally spoke up, a tense look on his face.

I wish she did.

*One Month Later.

I tiredly threw my school bag by my desk, thankful for the light amount of homework I had this weekend. It was 5, And I had just got back from school, due to staying late, getting some extra help from my math teacher. I put my phone on the charger, glancing at the various BBM broadcasts. I opened up the chat with Yousef, reading a new message.

Yousef AlX: Don't take too long to get ready, okay? I'll be there at 6 :*

I chuckled, excitement rushing to my brain. Everyone was going to 360 to celebrate. Celebrate what exactly? Well, the painting me and Hussain did was displayed in school, and was offered to be placed in an art gallery in Kuwait. All 13 of us, Ghalia, Shoug, Omar, Lulu, Faris, Amal, Yousef, Hussain, Jassim, Ali, Turki, Sultan and Hashim, were going to dinner at B+F. Then, since we had the week off from school, we were all going to stay at my shalieh for the weekend. I was so happy that everyone was going to be together, having pure fun.

slipped off my uniform and took a freezing cold shower. I got out, changing into a crisp white flowing short sleeved shirt, tucking it into black high waisted jeans, and adding a skinny turquoise belt. I straightened my hair, tossing my hair to one side. I went to the bathroom, applying simple winged eyeliner and light pink lip gloss. I checked the time, 5:55. I went to my closet, placing my classic black Chanel shoulder bag over my shoulder, and putting on Yousef's necklace (for anyone whose confused, by Yousef's necklace I mean the necklace that Yousef gave me), slipping on nude flats, and spraying vanilla scented body spray over myself.   My bags were already packed for the week, but I still looked around, hoping I didn't leave anything behind.

I stuffed my phone in my purse, along with my wallet and my lipgloss. I looked at myself in the mirror, awkwardly glancing at myself. I had lost weight this month, and it was starting to show. I'm not sure why I did, but soon after the Rama fight, I looked at myself in the mirror and felt weird. I stopped eating as much, and when I did, I only ate a little. Something about Rama's words shook me.

''You're Ugly.''

''You're Worthless.''

Why would she say that? Obviously she was trying to hurt me, but there would have to have been a motive behind her words. The only thing I have ever been even acutely uncomfortable about was my weight. I was at a normal weight, and I rarely ever though about it. Now that I was 10 pounds underweight, it was always on my mind. My collar bones stuck out even more now, and they were complemented by the scoop of the neckline on my shirt. I glanced at my legs, which now had a tiny gap between my two thighs. A spark of happiness grew inside me, and I turned around, rushing out of my room and down the hall, satisfied.

''AMAL!'' I yelled, knocking on her bedroom door. She opened the door, pulling me in her room and shutting the door behind her. Her room is painted an obnoxiously bright shade of hot pink, and she has the fluffiest white carpet I've ever seen.

''How do I look?'' She said, spinning around. She was wearing a Forever21 flowing light pink lace top and black jeans, along with light pink heels and a white over the shoulder bag.

''Are those my jeans?'' I asked, a look of mock horror on my face.

''Maybe!'' She said, and we both laughed, walking out of her room and downstairs, finding my dad sitting in the big living room, reading the newspaper.

''Hey Baba!'' I said, going up to him and kissing his forehead.

''Hi, where are you two going?'' He said, examining us.

'To celebrate the art project from school, remember?''

''Okay okay. You both look very nice. Have fun, and be home by 8'' He smiled, returning to his newspaper.

''3amo, everyone's going to the shalieh after that, remember? You're coming too!'' Amal said, and we were both shocked that he didn't remember. All of our parents were very good friends, so it wasn't really a big deal that everyone was coming. Their parents were even coming for lunch tomorrow.

''Ahh, yes, I forgot! I can't make it tonight, we'll all be there tomorrow morning.'' He said, turning the page of his newspaper, engrossed in the sports section.

I heard a honk outside, and sighed. We both said goodbye, walking out the door.
